Privacy Policy

Your privacy is our top priority

Effective Date: September 19, 2025
TL;DR β€’ The Short Version
  • πŸ”’ We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal data.
  • πŸ’Ύ All of your prompts, folders, categories, and variables are stored exclusively on your local device.
  • 🚫 We do not use any third-party analytics or tracking services.
  • πŸ–₯️ We do not have servers that store your prompt content.
  • 🍎 Subscription purchases are handled securely by Apple's App Store, and we never see your payment information.

1. Information We Collect (and What We Don't)

Our philosophy is to collect the absolute minimum information necessary to provide you with a great experience. Based on the architecture of our application, this is what that means in practice:

a. Data You Provide and Create

This is the core content you create within PromptCurator. It includes:

  • The titles and content of your prompts.
  • The variables you define and the values you fill them with.
  • The names, icons, colors, and descriptions of folders and categories you create.

b. Purchase Information

To manage your free trial and Pro subscription, we use Apple's official StoreKit framework.

  • When you subscribe, the transaction is processed securely by Apple's App Store.
  • We never see or store your name, address, or payment details (like credit card numbers).
  • We receive an anonymous, cryptographically signed receipt from Apple that verifies your subscription status (e.g., whether you are in a trial or have an active subscription) and its expiration date. This is used solely to unlock Pro features in the app.

c. App Preferences

To improve your user experience, the app saves certain preferences locally on your device using macOS's standard UserDefaults system. This includes:

  • Your chosen theme (e.g., Light, Dark).
  • Your text scaling/zoom level.

This information is also stored only on your device and is not linked to you personally.

d. Information We Explicitly DO NOT Collect

We believe you have a right to privacy, so we have built PromptCurator to function without collecting any of the following:

  • Personal Identifiable Information (PII) such as your name, email address, or phone number.
  • Usage analytics, crash reports, or telemetry data about how you use the app.
  • Device identifiers, IP addresses, or location data.
  • Any form of tracking or user profiling.

2. How We Use Your Information

Since we don't collect personal information, our use of data is limited to the essential functions of the app on your device:

  • To Provide App Functionality: Your prompt and library data is used to save, retrieve, organize, and display your content as you use the app.
  • To Manage Your Subscription: We use the anonymous receipt from Apple to verify your purchase and unlock the appropriate features (e.g., enabling Pro features after a trial).

3. Data Storage, Security, and Retention

  • Storage and Security: All your content is stored locally on your Mac. Its security is tied to the security of your own device and user account (e.g., your login password, FileVault encryption). We do not implement any additional encryption beyond what macOS provides, as your data never leaves your machine.
  • Retention: Your data is retained on your device for as long as you keep the app and its associated files. You can delete individual prompts, folders, or categories at any time within the app. Deleting the application from your Mac will remove all associated application data.

4. Data Sharing

There are no third parties who receive any data from the PromptCurator application. The only external communication the app makes is with Apple's App Store servers to validate your subscription status. This communication is governed by Apple's privacy policy.

5. Your Rights and Data Control

You have complete control over your data because it resides entirely on your device.

  • Access, Edit, and Delete: You can access, edit, and delete any of your prompts, folders, and categories at any time directly within the application.
  • Export: You can copy the content of any prompt to your clipboard. The underlying prompt files are stored in a standard format (JSON) in your Documents/UserPrompts/ folder, giving you direct access.

6. Children's Privacy

The app does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in the relevant jurisdiction). If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us so we can take necessary steps.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will notify you by revising the effective date at the top of the policy. We encourage you to review the policy whenever you access our services to stay informed about our information practices.
